Reforms in police admin a must to ensure justice: CJ
Chief Justice M Ruhul Amin yesterday underscored the need for reform of the police department and its investigation mechanisms to ensure fair dispensation of justice in criminal cases.
“It's essential to reform our age-old police administration and its investigation process to ensure fair judgment in a case as it (case) first goes to the police,” he said while inaugurating the newly built district judge court building.
Referring to the separation of the judiciary from the executive control, the Chief Justice said justice seekers have already started getting the benefits of the judiciary separation. “The scale is the symbol of justice. The court building would be of no use if judgement is not delivered evenhandedly,” he said.
Presided over by local district bar association President AKM Humayun Kabir, the function was addressed, among others, by bar association Secretary Hafizur Rahman, additional registrar Farid Ahmed Shibley, District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Mujibul Kamal and DC M Taslimul Islam.
