Five world-class medical varsities on cards
Health and Family Welfare Minister Prof AFM Ruhal Haque yesterday said the government is planning to set up five medical universities of international standards, like Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), in the country.
Process is now underway to appoint more than 32,000 people in the health sector as part of the prime minister's announcement of creating jobs for the people of all houses, he said while addressing a reunion in the auditorium of Dhaka Officers' Club.
Former leaders and workers of Chittagong Medical College accorded a reception to Health and Population Affairs Secretary of Awami League Dr Bodiuzzaman Bhuiyan (Dablu) on the occasion.
Chairman of Otolaryngology Department of the BSMMU Prof Dr Abu Sofi Ahmed Amin presided over the programme while Secretary General of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Prof M Sharfuddin Ahmed and Secretary General of Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad Prof M Iqbal Arslan spoke as special guests.
