3 killed, 5 injured in road crashes
Three people, including a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist, were killed and five injured in separate road accidents across the country yesterday.
Our Chapainawabganj Correspondent said two people were killed and four others injured at Shibganj upazila under Chapainawabganj when a pickup truck rammed a local human hauler on Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid highway near Dhoppukur under the upazila in the morning.
The deceased were identified as Sifa, 10, daughter of Bhadu Ali, and mentally challenged youth Babu, 22, son of Samed Ali, of Tolbari village at Bholahat upazila.
Quoting witnesses, police said the goods-laden pickup hit the Shibganj-bound human hauler, locally known as Bhutbhuti, around 9:00am, killing two of its passengers on the spot and injuring four others.
The injured were rushed to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Sadar Hospital for autopsies.
Our Correspondent from Thakurgaon adds: A BCL activist was killed in a road accident on Tuesday evening.
The victim was identified as Shohel Rana Shuvo, 18, son of Aminul Islam, of Munshipara village in the town and also an HSC student of Thakurgaon Government College.
Police said the accident occurred on Thakurgaon-Ruhea road at Paltan village around 6:00pm when Shuvo lost control of his motorcycle and hit a roadside tree, leaving him and his co-rider seriously injured.
Locals rushed the injured to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital where Shuvo succumbed to his injuries.
As his fellow's condition was deteriorating fast, she was rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
