Competition on inspirational songs

Khulna divisional gano sangeet (inspirational songs) competition was held yesterday at the Shilpakala Academy auditorium in Magura with the participation of 60 competitors of nine south-western districts. The participants were divided into 'ka' and 'kha' groups.
The day-long competition, titled 'Gao Jiboner Gaan, Math-e Math-e Ghar-e Ghar-e', was organised by the Khulna divisional unit of Udichi Shilpi Goshthi under the management of the organisation's Magura unit.
Famed gano sangeet artiste Sharif Shah Dewan Ali Mehedi formally inaugurated the competition. Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, lawmaker Dr. Mohammad Serajul Akbar, spoke at the inaugural session as the chief guest. Deputy Commissioner of Magura Mohammad Dilwar Bakht attended the event as the special guest.
Among others, additional deputy commissioner of Magura Mohammad Tarikul Alam; Khulna divisional secretary of Udichi BM Shahiduzzaman; Jessore unit of Udichi's president Professor Sukumar Das; secretary, Meherpur Udichi Shilpi Goshthi Advocate Ibrahim Shaheen; Magura Udichi officials Dr. Kazi Tarifuzzaman, ABM Asadur Rahman, Rupak Aich and Biswajit Chakrabarti spoke on the occasion.
Through the competition, six singers from 'ka' and 'kha' groups were selected for the final round to be held in Dhaka on March 27.
From group 'ka', Maimuna Nasrin Oishee from Jessore attained the first position. Suparna Roy Payel of Magura came second and Partha Tarafdar from Khulna was adjudged third. From group 'kha', Satyajit Kumar Mondal from Jhenidah became first, Protyasha Haldar of Jessore secured second position and Rupak Aich from Magura was adjudged third.
