Rabindra Mela ends in Faridpur

Rabindranath belongs in our tradition. The new generation will not be enlightened by distancing itself from Rabindranath. Tagore's teachings will help us become enlightened human beings. Tagore exponent Dr. Sanjida Khatun said this at the inaugural ceremony of a three-day long Rabindra fair held at Ambika Maidan of the town in Faridpur on Friday afternoon.
Sachetan Nagorik Committee (SNC) in Faridpur had arranged the programme.

She added that she was moved by the Rabindra fair in Faridpur, which she described as a “unique and an innovative idea that could acquaint the new generation with Tagore's teachings.”
Kazi Keramot Ali MP, President of the Standing committee, Ministry of Cultural Affairs attended the event as chief guest.
He pointed out that the first such arrangement of Rabindra fair in Faidpur is an exceptional endeavour to know Rabindranath. The fair should be carried out every year which would help the people of this region to keep in touch with the great bards work and life.
Singers Professor Fahmida Khatun and Mahmuda Khatun; Hafizuddin Khan, chairman of trustee board, T I B; Joynal Abedin , member trustee board, TIB; ASP of Faridpur Anisur Rahman attended the function as special guests . Professor Altaf Hossain, convener of SNC presided over the programme.
The cultural function included the rendition of Tagore songs, recitation, dances and exhibition on the great bard. A number of cultural personalities, educationists, social workers and a cross section of people attended the fair.
