Two school students kidnapped in Madaripur rescued
Two school students allegedly kidnapped from Dashar area in Kalkini in the district were rescued from Duttapara on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Shibchar upazila yesterday.
Family sources said, three people put handkerchiefs mixed probably with chloroform on the noses of Ashikur Rahman Antu, 13, and Mehedi Hasan Raihan, 12, at Kalkini Asram stand and they fell unconscious.
Antu, a class seven student of Darshana High School and Raihan, a class six student of Atahar Ali Academy were returning home from school.
The kidnappers first took them on a tempo and later boarded a Dhaka-bound bus. The two boys regained their consciousness when the bus reached Duttapara. As they got down from the bus and started screaming, the kidnappers fled the scene.
Antu contacted his father over cell phone and his father informed the matter to Shibchar upazila administration.
The two school students were rescued with the help of upazila nirbahi officer (UNO), upazila engineer and locals. They were later handed over to their guardians through the upazila administration.
Antu is son of Khalil Bepari of Dashar area in Kalkini upazila while Raihan is son of Babul Islam of the same area.
