FIFA inspector dissatisfied
FIFA venue inspector Salman Al Namsan expressed his dissatisfaction yesterday over the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) as the development work, in line with the game's governing body's guidelines, is yet to start.
"He (Salman) is disappointed because the work at the venue as per FIFA guidelines has not started yet," informed Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) acting secretary Manzoor Hossain Malu quoted Salman, who last visited the venue in July to provide guidelines about the only recognised international venue in the country.
Things however got worse after the press box broke down on October 8, just hours after the World Cup pre-qualifying tie between Bangladesh and Tajikistan.
Salman, a Saudi Arabian architect, asked the authority to send a report to FIFA on how they want to start the renovation work and advised them to complete the work by February next.
During his last visit Salam had advised the BFF to widen the entrances and remove all shops inside the entrances along with demarking the playground and goalposts and he also advocated for ensuring the ventilation and set up bathrooms, backboards in all dressing rooms and to increase the lumination of the floodlights.
