Three to die for killing youth in Bagerhat
A Bagerhat court sentenced three youths to death on Thursday for killing a young man after kidnapping him at Mongla.
The convicts are Tutul Kazi, 21, son of Hamid Kazi of Paschim Kanaimari village under Mongla upazila, Rubel Bepari, 21, son of Rafique Bepari of the same village and Rafiqul Miah, 22, son of Ful Miah of Doni Rajapur village in Sharankhola upazila.
They killed Shahin Hawlader, 19, a bread seller at Mongla in Bagerhat on March 26, 2007 as a sequel to previous enmity.
Victim Shahin Hawlader was son of Abdul Latif Hawlader of Paschim Kanaimari village in the same upazila.
Of the three convicts, Rafiqul Miah is on the run.
Tutul and Rubel, during interrogation by Navy officials at Mongla Naval Base, confessed to strangling Shahin. Following their statement police recovered Shahin's body from Charkana point of the Pashur River.
Abdul Latif Hawlader filed a murder case against the three with Mongla police station.
Mongla police station sub-inspector and investigation officer (IO) of the case Swapan Chandra Sarker submitted charge sheet against the three on June 14, 2007.
