Kiwis offer to help cyclone victims
New Zealand Cricket has showed a noble gesture by proposing a Twenty20 match against Bangladesh during the Tigers' tour to New Zealand in December-January to raise fund for the victims of Cyclone Sidr.
"The New Zealand board sent the proposal on Thursday saying it wants to hold a Twenty20 charity match during the tour to raise fund for the Sidr victims in Bangladesh. We gladly accepted the offer," said Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, chairman of Bangladesh Cricket Board cricket operations committee, yesterday.
Bangladesh will play three one-day internationals and two Tests in their second visit to New Zealand.
Lipu said that the BCB would also try to find a way to raise fund for the Sidr-hit people in the south and southwest districts.
"We will discuss the issue in our next board meeting on Monday. Right at the moment it's not easy to arrange an international match but we will try our best to arrange something," the former national skipper added.
