Trainers' training launched for CAs
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) launched a trainers' training programme yesterday for chartered accountants to ensure international standard accounting in the corporate sector.
ICAB in association with Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) are conducting the training for local chartered accounting practitioners.
ICAB President Jamaluddin Ahmed inaugurated the training where senior financial specialist of World Bank (WB) Dhaka Office Suraiya Zannath Khan and M Shawkat Ali Waresi, joint secretary of the commerce ministry, also spoke.
The ICAB chief stressed the need for ensuring accurate application of the guidelines and regulations of the profession to improve financial capacity, transparency and accountability of any corporation.
He also suggested aligning local practitioners with international guidelines to ensure the standard quality of the profession.
The training was organised under the WB-sponsored 'Twining Project' implemented by Commerce Ministry with technical collaboration between ICAB and ICAEW.
The programme is a part of ICAB's rigorous efforts in strengthening the accounting profession in Bangladesh for compliance and practice of the standards and codes in the corporate sector.
The trained trainers, who are engaged in coaching the chartered accountancy students under the new ICAB curriculum, will get training from the ICAEW experts.
When fully implemented, the project will really deliver the goods for strengthening the capacity of ICAB and its members, which ultimately would pay rich dividends to improve transparency and accountability of the entities to create an environment of good governance, Suraiya said.
