Charges framed against 7 JMB militants
A Habiganj court yesterday framed charges against seven outlawed JMB (Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh) men in a case for bomb blast near Sonali Bank in the district town on August 17, 2005.
They are Saidur Rahman, Shafiqul Islam, Salahuddin, AHM Shamim, Azizul Islam, Hafez Ozaifa and Md Belal Hossain Tamim.
Of them, four were in the dock while the rest-- Saidur Rahman, Shafiqul Islam and Salahuddin--are still at large.
Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court will start recording deposition of the prosecution witnesses in the case from March 9.
However, charges could not be framed against seven JMB men, including Salah Uddin alias Salehin, in four other cases for serial blast in the town on that day as Salehin, one of the seven accused in the cases, was in the capital in connection with separate cases.
JMB operatives exploded bombs on the premises of Habiganj deputy commissioner's office and at four other places in the town on August 17, 2005.
Five separate cases were filed with Sadar Police Station soon after the serial blasts. Police submitted charge sheets to the court in the five cases. Salahuddin was charge-sheeted in one case while Salehin in four other cases.
