Hosts' hope dashed in archery
Bangladesh's hope of clinching gold in archery was dashed when teenage archer Sajib Sheikh went down to Indian Tarundeep Rai in the individual 70m recurve bow final of the 11th South Asian Games at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan yesterday.
Sajib, a BKSP student of class eight, lost to Rai 106-108 in the final.
India won all four gold and one silver.
Bangladesh finished behind India with two silver and three bronze while Sri Lanka grabbed one silver.
In the team event, Bangladesh trio Nur-e-Alam, Sajjad Hossain and Emdadul Haque Milon also surrendered the gold to India's Tarundeep Rai, Jayanta Talukdar and Mangal Singh Champia losing the final by 211-204 points.
The hosts' bronze came in the men's individual, women's individual and women's team events.
