30 hurt in clash at city madrasa
A group of people equipped with bamboo sticks ransacked a madrasa at Shah Saheb lane in capital's Gendaria area yesterday and looted belongings, leaving at least 30 persons injured.
Of them 14 were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital while the rest received treatment locally.
Sources said around 50 people led by Shah Mohammad Imtiaz attacked the students and staffs of Ahsania Yeatim Khana and Darul Ulum Ahsania Fazil Madrasha around 3:00pm.
Officer-in-charge Faruque Ahmed of Gendaria police station said there had been a long-standing feud over the appointment of representative of the madrasa between Imtiaz and his relative Shah Mohammad Ahsanuzzaman -- the current representative.
