Cop shoots himself dead

A policeman shot himself dead while he along with his fellows was guarding the arsenal of Dinajpur Police Lines early yesterday.
Constable Ashraful Islam, 22, hailed from Borogram of Lalmonirhat district.
Sources said hearing the sound of bullets around 12:10am, other policemen rushed in and found the bullet-hit body of the constable in front of arsenal gate.
He was rushed to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds at 1:20am.
Sources said Ashraful shot himself following a family feud.
Sujayet Hossain, acting police super of Dinajpur, said before his last breath, constable Ashraful admitted that he had attempted to kill himself.
On duty doctors at the hospital said he received at least four bullets in his stomach.
The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
A four-member probe committee led by Senior ASP Shanjit Kumar has been formed to investigate the incident.
The high officials of police visited the spot after the incident. An unnatural death (UD) case was filed with police.
