34 shops gutted in 3 districts
At least 34 shops have been gutted in fire incidents in three districts.
Six shops were gutted in a devastating fire at high school market in Nabinagar upazila headquarters in Brahmanbaria on Sunday morning, reports UNB.
Locals said the fire broke out at a shop and soon engulfed the nearby five shops at about 10:30 am.
However, the cause of the blaze could not be know immediately.
On information, OC of the local police station rushed to the spot and helped the local people to extinguish fire as there is no fire station in the upazila.
The affected shop owners claimed that goods worth Tk 50 lakh were gutted in the blaze.
In Sherpur, at least 13 shops were gutted in a devastating fire at Bhimganj bazaar in Sadar upazila on Saturday night.
Locals said, the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop in the bazaar and soon engulfed the adjoining 12 shops at about midnight.
On information, fire fighters rushed to the spot and extinguished the flame after an hour of hectic effort with the help of local people.
The affected shop owners claimed that the damage caused by the fire could go up to Tk 50 lakh.
A Bandarban report says, at least 15 shops were gutted in a devastating fire at Lama Bazaar in Lama upazila on Thursday night.
Locals said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a cosmetics shop and soon engulfed the adjoining shops at about 11:00pm.
On information, fire fighters from Chakaria of Cox's Bazar and Bandarban Sadar upazila rushed in and doused the blaze after an hour of hectic effort.
The affected shop owners claimed that the fire damaged goods worth Tk 1crore.
