Mahmudul best player in U-19s tri-series
Bangladesh Under 19 captain Mahmudul Hasan has been declared the Player of the Series in the Under 19 Tri-Nation Tournament in Sri Lanka which concluded on Tuesday with the hosts emerging champions by defeating Pakistan in the final.
Although Bangladesh failed to make it to the final, Mahmudul was an inspirational presence and scored 116 runs in three matches at an average of 116.00 and also took two wickets with his off-breaks. Left-hander Mominul Haque was the other Bangladesh U19 batsman in the top-ten scorer's chart.
Paceman Abul Hasan was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh Under 19 with six wickets with a best of 5/50 (against Pakistan U19) and finished fourth in the overall list.
Bangladesh played three matches in the tournament winning one (against Sri Lanka). Their crucial third game (against Pakistan U19) was washed out without a ball being bowled which effectively ended their hopes of making the final.
The Bangladesh U19 team were scheduled to return home last night.
