Transformers looted from Narsingdi mills
Robbers took away transformers from textile mills in Narsingdi yesterday while a local gang looted three houses and injured seven people at a village in Shariatpur the day before.
In Narsingdi, robbers stormed into seven textile mills in Madhabdi industrial area under Sadar upazila early yesterday and looted three 167KV transformers.
Sources said a gang of 10 to12 robbers entered the industrial area at around 2:00am and tied up the night guards at gunpoint. They locked the gates of the seven mills from outside and took away the transformers by a truck.
Following the incident, authorities of Abarani Textile Mills, Adarsha Textile Mills, Anandi Textile Mills, Omar Faruk Textile Mills, Dina Bandhu Textile Mills and Bikash Textile Mills suspended production.
A gang led by Sultan Munshi, Sidam Molla, Siraj Khondakar, Afzal Khan and Rashed attacked the houses of Amjad Talukder, Dil Mohammad Bepari and Sikender Baperi at village Balakhana under Sadar upazila of Shariatpur district Wednesday morning.
They looted valuables from the houses and beat up Md Mujibor Rahman Khan, Rashed Khan, Biplop, Hajera Khatun, Taslima Akter, Rehana Akter, and Peara Begum, leaving them injured, according to a correspondent.
The injured were admitted to the upazila health complex and Shariatpur Sadar Hospital.
Our Jhenidah correspondent reported that an unidentified gang entered five government offices at Kaliganj upazila headquarters on Wednesday night and ransacked important documents.
Police arrested five night guards for interrogation.They are Malek Hossain, Yousuf Ali, Abdur Razzak, Abdul Aziz and Ansar Ali.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kaliganj Police Station said the gang tied up the night guards, broke the locks of the offices and ransacked important documents.
