Saarc teams up with three more organisations
The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) has teamed up with three organisations to get India-specific data on trade and business development.
The organisations are Confederation of Indian Industry and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Federation of Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
The Saarc Information Centre has recently launched a portal to bridge the information gap between member countries.
Saarc has entered into similar tie-ups with 26 leading regional and national trade institutions from eight Saarc countries to create a credible and single window network.
The portal aims to help traders get details of tariff and trade policies, economic analysis and data, sector surveys and trade procedures.
¡°The portal will help overcome the problem of inadequate connectivity among Saarc countries,¡± said Saarc Secretary General Sheel Kant Sharma.
The Asian Development Bank has pegged the trade potential in the Saarc region at $85 billion while intra-Saarc trade is $10 billion, 4.4 percent of South Asia's total world trade.
