'Make disclosure of information by candidates mandatory'
Eminent citizens of the country yesterday said it should be made mandatory for the candidates in the local government elections to submit their personal information through affidavit to the Election Commission, which will bring about qualitative changes among the elected representatives.
In a statement yesterday, they called on the Election Commission (EC) to enforce the provision of the electoral rule, which calls for disclosure of information.
Such a step would help voters elect honest and dedicated candidates, they said.
