Severe power outage in Rangamati
Residents of Rangamati town have sent memorandum to the power minister through the deputy commissioner seeking relief from severe power outage in the town.
In the memo submitted to Rangamati DC Sourendra Nath Chakrabarty recently, they also sought immediate intervention from the power minister to take departmental action against the responsible officials of Power Development Board (PDB).
The townspeople have to suffer load shedding 8 to 10 times in a day, they said, adding that corruption and irregularities by a section of PDB officials including Rangamati PDB Executive Engineer Dipak Khisa.
They alleged that the staffs of PDB office distribute electricity in some selected areas in the town, depriving two-thirds people in the town.
Power is distributed smoothly only at KK Roy Sarak, Tribal Officers Colony and College Gate, but the people of other areas experience severe load-shedding every day, says the memo.
