Sent off twice, still finishes game
A Vicenza player was twice ordered from the field by the referee during his team's Serie B match away to Modena on Saturday but still finished the game.
Michele Ferri, who learnt his trade in the AC Milan youth system, was twice sent-off by the referee before being definitively called back onto the field to complete the game.
Seven minutes from time the referee brandished a yellow card to the 28-year-old who, believing that he'd also been booked in the first half, turned on his heels and walked off before even waiting for the red that followed.
However, the referee then called Ferri back onto the pitch before checking his list of bookings and ordering him off again.
The situation then took a farcical turn as the referee consulted his assistants and called Ferri back onto the field again.
This time he stayed on for good but his team still lost 1-0.
The confusion arose from the first half when the referee booked Francesco Signori, wearing the number 88 shirt, for arguing, and not Ferri, who was wearing number 81.
