4 held with fake notes in Pabna, Barguna
Police on Tuesday seized fake notes worth Tk 32 thousand and arrested four people, two in Pabna and two others in Barguna district.
Detective Branch (DB) of Police on Tuesday arrested two alleged fake note traders and recovered from them fake currencies worth 22 thousand taka at Sadhupara in Pabna municipality area, reports our correspondent.
The arrestees are Md Al Amin alias Himel,22, son of Sirajul Islam and Kawsar Hossain alias Raki,23, son of Kamal Hossain of Sadhupara.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Pabna DB police raided Sadhupara at about 11:55 pm on Tuesday and arrested the two with 44 fake notes, each of 500 taka.
During interrogation, the arrestees confessed to police that are involved in fake currency trade for a long time. They bring fake currency from the capital and circulate them in Pabna.
DB police later handed them over to Pabna Sadar police.
Officer in-charge (OC) of Pabna police station Motiur Rahman said they produced the criminals in court yesterday and sought five days remand.
Our Correspondent in Barisal reports: the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) early Tuesday seized fake notes worth about Tk 10 thousand and arrested two people from Sonali Madrassa in Kalmegha union under Patharghata upazila of Barguna district.
The Rab members raided the area at about 1:00 am and arrested Kabir Hossain alias Kabir, 30, and Zakir Hossain, 32, with 20 notes of Tk 500 denomination.
Akram Hossain, deputy assistant director (DAD) of Rab-8 told The Daily Star that the arrested persons were handed over to police following filing of a case with Pathorghata police station on Tuesday afternoon.
