Housewife held in city

The police arrested a housewife on charges of torturing her domestic help and also rescued the victim at Mirpur-10 in the city yesterday.
The victim, 12-year-old Tania, with marks of injuries all over her body was now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Tania has been working at the house of trader Shafiqul Islam at a six-storey building in Block-C of the area for about a year. The police arrested Roksana Mary, wife of Shafiqul, for torturing the girl.
The police said residents of the six-storey building rescued Tania when she came out of the room on the fifth floor and raised an alarm in the afternoon. Later, they handed over the girl to the police.
The police said the girl came out of the room when Mary went to the bathroom to have a bath.
The police arrested Mary after Taniya told them that Mary often tortured her and did not allow her to come out of the flat.
Taniya hails form Modhupur in Tangail.
Marry admitted to the police that she beat Taniya as she did not comply with her order and often stole and ate foods.
