Road crashes kill 3 in city
Two persons were run over by speeding trucks while another was crushed between two buses in the city's Badda, Shyamoli and Gulshan yesterday.
Of the deceased Billal Hossain, 25, was a truck helper of Panchagarh sadar, Khan Habibur Rahman, 55, a resident of Senpara Mirpur-10 while the identity of other could not be known.
Family members of Billal at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital said a truck coming from opposite direction on Kuril Biswa road at Badda around 12:30am crushed him.
Billal was standing on the road as his truck, carrying rod from Pagla in Narayanganj to Gazipur, got stuck in a traffic jam there, police said.
The truck escaped the scene.
Meanwhile, Khan Habibur Rahman died as a truck hit him while he was crossing Mirpur road at Shyamoli around 12:15am.
Locals said the truck fled after the accident.
In another incident, an unidentified youth, aged around 30, died while he was hit between Airport bound two buses around 12:00 noon in front of the Navy Headquarters in Gulshan.
Gulshan police said following the accident they arrested drivers Jewel and Alamgir of the two buses and also detained the buses of Ajmiri Paribahan and Banasri Paribahan.
Police said the buses were trying to overtake each other causing the accident.
Police took the bodies to DMC morgue for autopsy.
