One arrested, two sued on charges of war crimes
An alleged war criminal was arrested at Rahonpur under Gomostapur upazila of Chapainawabganj district early yesterday, while two others were sued for war crimes in Chittagong the day before.
In Chapainawabganj, police arrested alleged war crimanal Ansar Momin, 55, of Choudala village under Gomostapur upazila at around 2:30am yesterday.
Ansar is one of the 11 accused in a case filed against them by Taslima Begum, wife of a martyred freedom fighter, with the Judicial Magistrate's Court on September 2 this year, reports our correspondent.
Gomostapur police said they arrested Ansar as the court issued arrest warrants against Ansar and ten others following the case filed by Taslima.
In the case statement, Taslima said rajakar Ansar and 10 other collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces raided Boalia village in Gomostapur upazila on September 19, 1971 and picked up her husband Abdul Hamid and two other freedom fighters-- Razzak and Saifulfrom a house.
She further stated that the collaborators took the three to a camp at AB High School in Rohonpur municipal area under the upazila and killed them.
Our staff correspondent from Chittagong adds: Two people have been sued for their alleged involvement in the killing of four people, including a freedom fighter, in Satkania upazila during the Liberation War.
The accused are Siddique Ahmad and his associate Md Yunus of the area.
Md Ziabul Hossain of Kaliaishpur village under Satkania upazila filed the case against the two with the Court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Abdullah Al Mamun for killing his uncle freedom fighter Abu Yusuf Chowdhury and four other people at the village on December 6, 1971.
In the case statement, the complainant stated that local rajakar commander Siddique Ahmad and his accomplice Md Yunus picked up his uncle and three others from the village at gun point on the day.
He further said the collaborators took his uncle and three others to an abandoned house in Chanderpara area under Dharmapur Union and shot them dead.
