Emphasis on forging communal harmony
Ramkrishna Sheba Ashram, Pabna recently organised a get together and cultural programme to mark the end of the Durga Puja festival. The programme was titled 'Sharadia Utshab'. Along with the cultural programme, a discussion and children's drawing competition were held on the organisation's premises.
The Maharaj of Ramkrishna Mission, Dhaka chaired the discussion, while Professor Lutfunnesa Begum, wife of the State Minister for Home Affairs Advocate Samsul Haque Tuku, was the chief guest.
Among others, former MP Wazi Uddin Khan; Chandan Chakrabarti, president of Hindu-Boudhho-Christian Aikko Parishad and secretary of Pabna district Puja Udjapan Parishad Binoy Kundu Jyoti spoke on the occasion.
The speakers lay emphasis on the need to forge communal harmony. Bangladesh is known as a country of communal harmony and we must strengthen this aspect of our national character, said the speakers.
Earlier, a drawing competition was held at the Sheba Ashram premises. Over 100 children from various schools participated at the competition. This was followed by a cultural programme. Artistes Proloy Chaki, Abul Kashem and Pradip Kumar rendered songs while several other artistes performed dances on the occasion.
