Fan gets three year ban
A fan who was slapped by Craig Bellamy after running onto the pitch during Manchester United's derby win over Manchester City on September 20 was Wednesday banned from football grounds for three years.
Bellamy has escaped action by the police or the Football Association over his confrontation with Jake Clarke, a 21-year-old United fan who came on to the pitch after Michael Owen sealed a 4-3 victory for United, deep into injury time.
Clarke, who had previous convictions for cannabis possession and common assault, told Trafford Magistrates' Court that he "deeply regrets" his behaviour. As well as the ground ban, Clarke was ordered to pay a fine of 305 pounds.
