President hosts reception for Hindus

President Zillur Rahman hosted a Bijoya reception for the Hindu community at Bangabhaban yesterday afternoon on the occasion of Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the people of the faith.
Water Resources Minister Ramesh Chandra Sen and State Minister for Religious Affairs Advocate Md Shahjahan Mia were present on the occasion.
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty and Nepalese Ambassador Pradeep Khatiwada were also present at the function.
Besides, distinguished personalities, including principal of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Swami Aksarananda Moharaj and Maj Gen (retd) CR Dutta, judges, academics, freedom fighters, journalists, lawyers, doctors, businessmen, artistes, high civil and military officials and retired government officials, attended the reception.
President Zillur Rahman exchanged greetings with the invited guests.
Secretary of the President's Office Mohammad Shafiul Alam, Military Secretary to the President Major General Md Ehtesham Ul Haque and President's Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader were present.
The reception was held yesterday instead of Monday's Dashami occasion as the President had visited Saudi Arabia from September 22 to 27 at the invitation of the Saudi King.
