4 commit 'suicide' in two districts
Four people allegedly committed suicide on Monday in Rangpur and Rangamati districts.
BSS from Rangpur says, an elderly man and a young housewife allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in Pirganj upazila. Following a family feud, Gulari Begum, 28, wife of Majnu Mia of village Keshobpur took poison and died at her husband's house, police said.
In another incident, Mojibar Rahman, 70, son of late Oli Mahmud of village Harnathpur under the same upazila, allegedly killed himself by hanging from a mango tree in his homestead after failing to tolerate chronic abdominal pain.
Pirganj police recovered both the bodies and filed two separate unnatural death (UD) cases.
The news agency adds from Rangamati that a father of four kids and a woman, both belonging to an ethnic minority group, committed suicide by taking poison at their Poddyachhara village under Baghaichhari upazila.
Police and relatives of the victims said, Baghinala Chakma, 35, and Adeyo Chandra Chakma, 40, had extra-marital relation for the last three years.
As they were continuously threatened by the locals, the couple went to a nearby hill and took poison near a fountain.
The villagers rescued them in an unconscious state and took them to Baghaichhari Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead.
