Bodies of 2 Rohingya women of Myanmar recovered from Naf
Police yesterday recovered bodies of two Rohingya women from the Naf River near a sluice gate at Jhinapara under Sabrang union in Teknaf upazila.
Locals believe they drowned when the boat with the two Myanmar nationals capsized near Teknaf border.
They earlier located the bodies in the river and informed police. Sub-inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman of Teknaf police station went to the spot and recovered them.
One of the victims was Rahima Khatun, 60, wife of late Shahidullah of Foyezipara in Mongdu town in Myanmar. The other 45-year-old woman could not be identified.
An unnatural death (UD) case was filed with Teknaf police station. The bodies were sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
In Bandarban, police arrested at least 10 Rohingyas including five women from Myanmar on Monday night.
They pushed them back to their country yesterday afternoon through Naikkhanchhari border.
BSS quoting police said, Nurunnahar, wife of Abdul Jabbar at Amtali village under Alikadam upazila, filed a case against 10 Rohingyas alleging that they were involved in anti-social activities and crimes.
Police immediately arrested the Rohingyas, identified as Zakaria, Sanaullah, Ismail Hossain, Abdul Malek, Abdur Rashid, Habiba Khatun, Salma Begum, Ayesha Begum, Rahima Khatun and Sabekunnahar.
Later, they were handed over to the BDR authorities, who pushed them back to Myanmar through the Chakdala frontier.
