Skidding cars
If you have planned to visit your friends or relations residing on Road # 28 (old) at Dhanmondi between 5:00 and 8:00pm, you are advised to reschedule it. This is the time when the children of the so-called affluent families (as often described by the media) come to this part of the city for skidding their cars. They skid their cars at least at two points of the 'S'-shaped road which ends up at the Dhanmondi lake near the Westerlies.
The worst possible skidding is done in front of the Nazrul Institute when their skidding cars produce deafening noise causing anger, fear the disturbance amongst the inhabitants, not to mention severe traumatic effects on the minds of the small children and the elderly people. Sometimes the perpetrators come together aboard a number of cars yelling, and blowing the horns, which throws the people here into a deep frenzy.
To make the situation worse, a dozen of motor-bikers join them in the extravaganza. Such risky games of the insensible young boys (with a few female partners) have actually made the entire population panic-stricken. Even the small children who used to play some games in the vicinity of their buildings prefer to remain indoors, fearing dangers.
As this is allowed to go unchallenged by the law-enforcing agencies, the frequency of skidding is increasing by the day. A good number of accidents have already occurred causing serious injuries to people and the motorists themselves.
They have chosen this place because there is no resistance from the local residents who are too docile to dare raise their voice against the ultra-modern youths. The law-enforcing agencies must take immediate action against the heartless alien youths who invade the area. But, according to the locals, the best way to stop this nuisance is the construction of two speed breakers or at least some 'rumble strips' at suitable points of the road.
