Hearing on Arif's remand prayer Oct 6
Dhaka City Corporation Ward Commissioner and BNP leader Arifur Rahman Arif, who was arrested in connection with the case of bomb attack on Chashara Awami League office on June 16, 2001, was produced before Narayanganj Chief Judicial Magistrate's court yesterday for hearing a prayer for his remand.
The CID police prayed for a seven-day remand for Arif, but after the hearing Chief Judicial Magistrate Arifur Rahman rejected the prayer and fixed October 6 for next hearing on the remand.
Court Police Sub-Inspector Ujir Ali, District Bar Association President Abdur Rashid Bhuiyan, General Secretary Anisur Rahman Dipu, and plaintiff of the case and Town Awami League General Secretary Advocate Khokan Saha took part in the hearing on behalf of the state while Advocate Bhuiyan Bari stood for the accused.
During the hearing the plaintiff told the court that Arif is involved in the bomb attack and if he is taken in remand many sensational information regarding the case would be revealed.
The CID on Wednesday showed him arrested in Chashara AL office bomb attack in which a total of 20 people were killed and more than 100 others injured.
