Admission process to be made online: Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday said admission process of all education institutions would be brought online to speed up the digitalisation processes in the country's education sector.
“The government will welcome the online admission process at any education institution as the education ministry is sincere to bring all education institutes into online admission process,” he said while inaugurating the online admission system of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP).
BUP introduced the system for its BBA, MBA and Executive MBA programmes for 2009-10 academic session.
University Grants Commission Chairman Prof Nazrul Islam, Education Secretary Syed Ataur Rahman and BUP Vice Chancellor Maj Gen M Shafiqul Islam were present at the function at the ministry.
Nahid reaffirmed all-out cooperation of his ministry to gear up the digitalisation processes in the education sector.
Showing the reason for introduction of the online admission process, the minister said the online admission process was introduced to reduce the cost and suffering of the admission seekers.
“It will also help the young generation become more ICT-oriented,” he added.
BUP was established as the 30th public university of Bangladesh on June 5, 2008.
BUP, a unique public university, run by the armed forces in order to expand the national security, war strategy, medical, engineering and technology related to higher studies.
