2 murdered in city
Police recovered two bodies from Khejurbagh area of South Keraniganj and Shershah Shuri road of Mohammadpur in the city yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Sohel, 32, of Keraniganj and Nishu, 34, of Mohammadia Housing at Mohammadpur.
Police said Sohel's body was left by a road while the body of Nishu was found at his friend Sayeed's house on Shershah Shuri road.
Talking to The Daily Star Officer-in-charge of South Keraniganj Police Station Nilotpaul Dey said Sohel might have been murdered following a feud with his associates.
Sohel and his accomplices were involved in snatching Tk 2,60,000 from a business enterprise owned by former Awami League lawmaker Hazi Selim around 10 days ago. A case was filed in this connection, he said.
Police sent the body to Sir Salimullah Medical College morgue for autopsy.
Morgue sources said the body bore several marks of stab and bullet holes.
Officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station said they arrested Sayeed who informed police that both Sayeed and Nishu injected drugs into their bodies at around 8:00pm on Thursday at Sayeed's house in the area.
Nishu fell sick after injecting drug and he died early yesterday at Sayeed's house.
Nishu's body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
