Trawlers plying on waterways to be brought under law
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan yesterday said all mechanised boats and trawlers plying illegally on the waterways of the country will be brought under law through a planned way.
He said trawlermen would be provided with necessary training while gear and lighting system would be added to trawlers to reduce accidents on the waterways.
The minister was speaking at a view exchange meeting at Rajoir in Madaripur presided over by upazila Chairman Al Amin Molla.
The meeting was also attended by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Moshiur Rahman, acting health and family welfare officer Dr Dilip Kumar Das, and upazila Vice Chairman Dhirendra Nath Baruri.
Later at a meeting with the Hindu devotees, the minister urged all to remain alert for celebrating Durga Puja peacefully.
