AL activist killed in clash with BNP in Jhenidah
An Awami League activist was killed and 25 others were injured in a clash between the supporters of AL and BNP at Bahadurpur village in Harinakundo yesterday afternoon.
The dead was identified as Golam Rasul, 30, son of Rajab Ali.
Of the injured, the condition of Osman Gani, a BNP activist, is stated to be critical. He was sent to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital while other injured were admitted to Harinakundo health complex.
The clash took place at about 5:30pm over establishing supremacy in the area, sources said. BNP leader Alfaz Uddin and AL leader Motiar Rahman had been trying to establish supremacy in the area since the AL came to power.
The police brought the situation under control. Additional police forces have also been deployed to avert further clashes.
