Reflections post-Eid
The celebration of festivals may not be a big thing on the silver screen any more, but the small screen did its best to keep the festival spirit alive by offering special plays and shows. All the celebrities were upbeat about celebrating Eid, irrespective of their busy schedules and enjoyed a well-earned break to celebrate the festival with their families and friends.
Mahfuz Ahmed, a popular actor, director and producer of many plays, slept and forgot the world during the time of festivities. He said, “We, the media people, lead an extremely busy life; and it gets really hectic especially at this time of the year, that is Ramadan. We work round the clock so that we can present memorable and entertaining shows for our audience. I got only a week's holiday during Eid time and this gave me enough reason to sleep and shut myself away from the rest of the world, after the hectic preparations for the Eid week. Apart from that I also participated in other social activities and visited my relatives.
Mahfuz continued, “I directed two plays for the third day of Eid. One of them was titled “Khela”, which was aired at 2:30 pm on ntv. It is written by Humayun Ahmed and I worked long and hard for this project. Every Bangladeshi found a reflection of his/her life in this play. I gave my best to this project and really hope that my work was appreciated by the audience. The very same day, another play called “Talk Show” was aired on ATN Bangla at 9 pm. This play is written by Brindabon Das.” He happily continued, “My fans had the opportunity to see me on all the channels in various plays in a variety of roles, this Eid.”
Mahfuz stated, “On the 25th of this month, I will fly to Australia to visit my wife. I plan to stay there for a month and enjoy with my family, then I will return with full zest and vigour and resume my work here.”
