Car bomb at Manipur governor's residence
A major disaster was averted in Manipur when police detected a powerful car bomb inside the premises of the heavily guarded governor's residence on Friday.
According to reports, militants masquerading as social activists managed to sneak in the small car fitted with powerful bombs inside the premises.
Bomb disposal squad of the state police recovered the bombs and took them to a forested area to be defused.
Governor Gurbachan Jagat was in his office when the car bomb was detected.
Attacks on heavily guarded residential areas of ministers and senior officials with bomb or grenade attacks are a frequent occurrence in Manipur.
