RMG workers demonstrate for salary, bonus

Workers of three garment factories in Sadar upazila staged demonstrations yesterday to press for their demand for payment of salaries and festival bonus.
Witnesses said the workers of Lyric Fashion Ltd staged a demonstration at Naljani and blocked the Dhaka-Gazipur highway in the afternoon, disrupting traffic for about half an hour.
Later, police brought the situation under control.
In the morning, workers of two other garment factories -- Rita Textile and Fahim Garments -- stopped working and staged demonstrations at Konabari, demanding payment of salary arrears and Eid bonus.
The authorities of the two garment factories assured the workers of paying their salaries by Saturday.
