Army pullout from CHT a premature decision
Chairman of Jatiya Party HM Ershad yesterday said the army pullout from the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) is a premature decision of the government.
"Internal and external conspiracies are behind the withdrawal of troops from the CHT," he told a view exchange meeting with journalists at the Chittagong Circuit House.
Opposing the army pullout, Ershad said the law and order situation in the hill tracts would deteriorate with the dismantling of army camps.
About the achievements of the nine-month-old grand alliance government, he said it could not meet people's expectations. "However, time has not come yet to assess the failures of this government."
JP Secretary General Ruhul Amin Howladar and vice-chairman Sulaiman Alam were also present.
