GP to sponsor beach cricket
Telecom giant Grameenphone will sponsor the country's first-ever beach cricket tournament to be held at the tourist resort of Cox's Bazar on October 9.
Week End Cricket Club Association (WECCA) is organizing the tournament to introduce Bangladesh to the world of beach cricket as well as to popularise Cox's Bazar as a local and international beach cricket venue.
Some 14 teams, split into four groups, will compete in the five-over-a-side daylong meet.
WECCA was established in 2000 with professional and amateur cricketers from Bangladesh who play cricket on weekly holiday.
