Stocks finish positive
Dhaka stocks finished positive for the second consecutive session yesterday, the last trading day before a nine-day Eid vacation.
Trading will resume on September 27.
The benchmark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange, DSE General Index, rose by 14.69 points, or 0.48 percent to 3,058.79.
The market started rising steadily and crossed the 3,065 mark around noon.
The market however dropped in the next 90 minutes, pulled down by mutual funds, and fuel and power sector shares on profit booking sales, Equity Partners Limited, an investment firm, said in its daily market analysis.
Later, the market reached its peak again and finished positive.
The broader DSE All Share Price Index gained 12.99 points, or 0.5 points to 2,570.19.
Advancers beat losers 152 to 77, as most of the sector shares rose. Eight securities remained unchanged.
A total of 4,48,63,376 shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 581.10 crore were traded on the premier bourse.
AIMS 1st Mutual Fund topped the turnover leaders with 90,15,000 units worth Tk 20.63 crore being traded on the DSE.
Metro Spinning, which increased by 10.28 percent, was the largest gainer. Rahima Food, which declined by 5.72 percent, was the biggest loser.
Chittagong stocks also marked a rise. The CSE Selective Categories Index gained 44.51 points, or 0.66 percent to 6,716.42. The CSE All Share Price Index increased by 67.15 points, or 0.63 percent to 10,596.32.
A total of 70,56,920 shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 62.31 crore changed hands on the Chittagong Stock Exchange. Of the traded securities, 116 advanced, 57 declined and one remained unchanged.
Standard Ceramic was the biggest gainer that advanced by 15.66 percent. ICB 7th Mutual Fund was the largest loser that declined by 7.96 percent.
AIMS 1st Mutual Fund topped the turnover leaders with 17,52,500 shares worth Tk 4 crore being traded on the port city bourse.
