MJF places draft RTI rules to CIC
Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) yesterday handed over a copy of draft regulations on the Right to Information Act 2009 to the Chief Information Commissioner.
It also organised a seminar to bounce ideas off the civil society on the draft regulations for Right to Information Act 2009 on August 24.
The regulations were prepared on the basis of the views and recommendations of the government and non-government level experts and Information Rights Forum members.
Guidelines for preserving and managing information, publication of information and its publicity and receipt have been incorporated in the draft regulations.
Executive Director of the Manusher Jonno Foundation and convenor of Information Rights Forum Shaheen Anam handed over the draft to the Chief Information Commissioner M Azizur Rahman. Information commissioners Abu Taher and Sadeka Halim were also present on the occasion.
Shaheen Anam said the Manusher Jonno Foundation expects the Information Commission would consider the opinions from the civil society while finalising the regulations. She also said the organisation is ready to provide all-out cooperation to the Information Commission.
The Manusher Jonno Foundation played the key role in the advocacy process in formulating draft Right to Information Act.
The organisation is working as the secretariat of the Information Rights Forum comprised of 40 organisations and individuals.
