Cab driver stabbed to death
Criminals stabbed a taxicab driver to death yesterday in the city's Mirpur area during an attempt to hijack the vehicle that police recovered later.
According to Pallabi police, three criminals in the guise of passengers hired the taxicab and at one stage they stabbed its driver Nuruzzaman, 30, around 12:00 midnight at Mirpur-6, leaving him critically injured.
A police team shot at the criminals while chasing them.
One of the criminals, Imran, was admitted to Pongu Hospital with bullet wounds under police custody.
The driver, Nuruzzaman, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 1:30am.
He was the son of Khalilur Rahman and a resident of Pallabi.
In another incident, Mukter Hossain, 24, who was beaten by an angry mob during snatching a private car in Pallabi residential area on Monday, succumbed to his injuries yesterday.
His associate Abdul Halim died on the spot in the mob beating while the third one could manage his escape well.
