Condolences pour in for Saifur

More organisations yesterday expressed profound shock at the death of former finance minister and BNP leader M Saifur Rahman.
In a condolence message, the Association of Development Agencies in Bangladesh (Adab) said the former finance minister played an important role in the development of the rural economy and livelihoods of the common people.
The nation has lost a skilled and patriotic politician and economist at his death, it added.
In another message, ASA President Sahfiqul Haque Chowdhury said the death of Saifur Rahman is an irreparable loss for the nation. He will be remembered for his pivotal role in building a self-reliant economy.
Meanwhile, the central committee of Zia Sena held a milad mahfil in the city yesterday in memory of Saifur Rahman.
At the programme, the committee members also urged the government to withdraw all false cases against the BNP leaders, including BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman.
