Rab men to watch Eid ticket sale
The government will deploy 5,000 Rab members all over the country ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr festival to check black marketing of tickets for bus, train and launches for homebound people.
They will be deployed at all bus, train and launch stations all over the country from September 15 in uniform and plain clothes, Director General (DG) of Rab Hassan Mahmud Khondker told reporters here yesterday.
He said they will start watching the situation at Kamalapur Railway Station, Sadarghat Launch terminal and all other city bus terminals from the day to nab the racketeers to ensure people a safe journey to and back from home.
The DG said about 2,000 Rab men will take position in front of ticket counters and other sensitive spots in and around all city stations and also on lane and by-lane on bicycles to keep the racketeers out of the scene.
They will keep watch on all transport points and ticketing system in the divisional and districts towns, the DG said adding Rab will also try to nab the snatchers and other black mailing parties those become desperate during Eid festival.
The Rab will also scan the movement of miscreants by setting up checkpoints at the city entry and exit points in the capital and other district and divisional towns. They will identify toll collection points on highways and nab muggers who collect tolls from buses and goods carrying trucks.
The Rab has already fielded plain-clothed intelligence agents in city markets, Khondker said explaining some other preventive measures now in force and also going to be in place very soon.
He said the force will also strengthen its magistracy and patrol system this time to stop selling of adulterated goods in the market. The whole country will come under enhanced security cover during the Eid festival, he added.
