Expat's family leaves home in fear of life
Following attack and death threat by extortionists, family of a Saudi Arabia expatriate have been living outside their home at Kata Mobarak Ghona village in Farhad Nagar union under Feni district for the last 26 days.
Despite filing allegations with Feni Police Station, no step has been taken for security of the family, said Farzana Akhter, wife of Saudi expatriate Md Moslim Uddin.
Mentioning the allegations, Moslim Uddin has sent a letter to the deputy inspector general of police at police headquarters in Dhaka through the Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia capital Riyadh and sought necessary steps.
A group of criminals including Kamal and Babul of Rajnagar village and Rafiq of Purbo Char Kalidas village had been demanding Tk 50,000 as illegal toll from Farzana and teasing her for the last few days, said Farzana in the written allegation.
As Farzana declined the criminals' proposal, they attacked her residence and assaulted her. They also beat up her brother Shahedul Islam and his wife Sharmin Akhter when they came to her rescue, she said.
Following the culprits' death threat, Farzana with her son and daughter left her husband's house and started staying at her parents' residence in Mirersarai of Chittagong.
Farzana alleged that the investigation officer of the case Sub-Inspector Shah Alam of Bodadia Police outpost accompanying the accused came to her parents' house to investigate her allegations but the accused are yet to be arrested.
When contacted, Sub-inspector Shah Alam said he did not find authenticity of Farzana's allegations on investigation.
