Aug 21 Grenade Attack Case

Govt trying to implicate BNP men

Says Delwar

BNP Secretary General Khandakar Delwar Hossain yesterday said the government is trying to implicate his party leaders and workers in August 21 grenade attack on Awami League rally in the city four years ago.
He said external forces were involved in the brutal attack. The grenades used in the attack were not of Bangladesh but came from across the border.
Khandker was addressing a rally organised to protest the prime minister's statement on Friday that the BNP men were involved in the grenade attack.
He termed the prime minister's remarks on late president Ziaur Rahman and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia as indecent and objectionable.
The BNP leader smelt foul in the government move for fresh investigation into the grenade attack of four years ago. He said the government is trying to distract the mind of the people to hide its failures.
Delwar shared with people's concern at the price hike of essentials on the eve of holy month of Ramadan. Tall talks of the ministers failed to bring down the prices, he said.
Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Goyashwar Chandra Roy, Barkatullah Bulu MP, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal and Sultan Salauddin Tuku also addressed the rally.
