Newborn goes missing from DMCH
A newborn girl went missing from the neonatal ward of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday when the father left for some three hours to get money for medicines while the mother was admitted to the labour ward.
The father Mohammad Khokan Miah, a rickshaw puller and a resident of the capital's Kamrangir Char, filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station yesterday.
He told journalists that his wife Shefali Begum gave birth Thursday morning and the baby was transferred to the neonatal ward for being underweight.
Neither Khokan nor the DMCH authority, once informed by him, could get any satisfactory answer from the neonatal ward's doctors and staff. He then filed the case upon the authority's suggestion.
