Nationwide hunt begins
A nationwide talent hunt competition kicked off in all upazilas yesterday to seek out the best talented students of secondary and higher secondary levels.
The education ministry is organising the competition titled "Creative Talent Hunt Competition-2014" for the second time.
Students from class VI to class XII of different educational
institutions, including technical institutes and madrasas, are
participating in the contest
which will be held in four levels—upazila, district, divisional and national.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated the contest on Dhaka University campus.
The contest has been designed with four categories -- Language and Literature; Science; Mathematics and Computer; and Bangladesh Studies -- in which students under three groups will participate, said the organisers.
The first category consists of essay writing, storytelling and extempore speech, while the second comprises free-hand writing and presentations on different science topics.
For Mathematics and Computer segment, the students will have to take written and oral tests. MCQ and oral tests will be held in the category of Bangladesh Studies.
A total of 12 students, one from each subject and each group, will be made the champions.
The upazila-level competition will end tomorrow. The
district-level contest will be held on May 13-16 while the divisional-level on May 19-21. The contest in Dhaka metropolitan will be held
on May 22-25 and the
national-level competition on
May 26-30.
Each of the champions will be provided with a prize of Tk 1 lakh and a certificate. Besides, winners of upazila, district and divisional levels will also be rewarded with financial benefits and certificates.
